About the Project

The Liquid Network is an open-source federated Bitcoin sidechain and layer-2 solution interoperable with Lightning that enables faster, more confidential bitcoin transactions and the issuance and exchange of digital assets like stablecoins, tokenized securities, and bonds. Launched in 2018 as Bitcoin's first sidechain, Liquid shares its codebase with Bitcoin to create a secure, cryptographically robust protocol that complements Lightning as an alternative payment system and extends Bitcoin's use cases into the realm of new capital markets.
